Universal Studios
Universal Studios baby!!! While Zoe’s friend Amelia is in town Mom and Dad let us go to Universal Studios! We were really excited because none of us had ever been before and we were ready to party! We headed out towards the park and finally got there after a long morning of three girls trying to figure out what to wear and what would work for the weather that day.
We got there and to our surprise it really wasn’t busy at all, which was a total bonus! One of the first things there was to do was the “House of Horror”. It is a haunted house and we jumped right in to do it. It wasn’t way scary at first until everything went wrong. First Zoe lost her flip flop and then dropped the backpack which sent all of our fruit, water bottles, and whatever else we had in there tumbling to the ground. I ran ahead and hid in a corner so no one could scare me and I don’t really know exactly what Amelia and Zoe were doing. I could tell they were on their hands and knees crawling around looking for lost things. After what felt like forever of searching for our stuff we toughed it out and were able to move on. The next thing that awaited us was a hall of mirrors though. At this point we were all split up and going different directions. I looked over and saw Zoe running full force straight forward and ran right into a mirror. It was the funniest thing ever and I couldn’t stop laughing but then Zoe thought her nose was bleeding so we tried to find an emergency exit. We found one and were able to make it into light, and her nose wasn’t bleeding. Trust me it was way more intense when it was happening (with people jumping out at you everywhere and just the whole haunted house feeling) you would agree if you were there!
We were ready to move onto other rides and things but soon found out there really were not any rides. They had some cool 3D and 4D rides like “Shrek” and “Terminator 2”. There are also a bunch of shows that show how they use things like “Green Screens and how they make different sound effect for movies.

We covered 80% of it in one day (it’s pretty small) and went back a second day to finish it up. We got up the courage to do the haunted house and were determined to finish it! We made it threw with no worries and it actually ended up pretty lame, we can say we made it though which is a good thing.
My favorite part of it all was the studio tour. It’s a tram that takes you on a tour threw all of the sets and things from a ton of different movies. There are too many to list but here are some of my favorites. The lake where they filmed “Jaws” was really small it’s amazing what different equipment and angles can do to make things appear bigger. They still have the mechanical shark and human dummy in the water and they turn it on and do the scene from the movie. It was huge shark though; I hope I never see a real shark that big in my life.

They also had the sets from “Desperate Housewives” there was a whole road with their houses on them and it looked like a real cookie cutter neighborhood. Every little thing look perfect and it all looked totally real.

They also had a bunch of sets that you would go threw and things like flashfloods and earthquakes would start.

The whole Universal thing was a cool way to learn more about the movies and get the inside scoop on what goes on in the sets. I would totally go again. There wasn’t much to do though and a lot of it was older stuff. So if you have younger kids I suggest Disney. J
