My family is within a few weeks of hitting the road and in the process we had a huge estate/garage sale.  Mind you we live in a small town and we weren't sure how well our sale was going to go.  We spent many days and hours before the sale preparing and organizing for the sale.  We had the sale in February in our 4 bedroom house.  Due to the unpredictable weather in Oregon, we decided to use every room in our house, including the garage to have the sale.  
      Before I forget, I wanted to thank my Dad and his wife Rosie for all their help.  We couldn't have done it without you.  We had 4 adults working this sale.  We started the sale on Thursday at 9:00 am.  Before the sale started there was a line out the door. We opened the door at 9 am sharp.  We were in total shock after a few minutes went by there were people everywhere.  There wasn't enough us to help all buyers.  We were absolutely swamped all day long.  Saturday was pretty much the same.
      We were all so tired and cold.  We kept the doors open in the house because there were people coming in and out so much it wasn't worth closing them.  So therefore we didn't turn the heat on.  It was colder in the house than it was out side. 
       I am not even sure what day it was on but there was a man and his wife that came up to me with arms full of stuff.  So I went to get a bag for them.  I put all of the mans stuff in a bag after adding it all up, then told the woman, "here let me put your in here too."  Most of what they had was several sets of king sheets and after I put her stuff in the bag it had a hard lumpy center to it.  I looked inside the sheets and she had 2 pair of shoes and another set of sheets.  I said to her," Oh I see you want these items too."  She said, " Oh my goodness, I forgot I had those in there."  So I added everything up again and she said, "Maybe I should only get one of those pair of shoes."  After deciding what she wanted she said, " I am so embarrassed about that.  I totally forgot about those."
      Well I bet she was embarrassed.  I don't even know If her husband knew about her sticky fingers.  Also when she said that she wasn't sure if she wanted both shoes,  I felt like saying, " Yeah I bet you don't want both now that you have to pay for them."
      Anyway I new that people steal even at garage sales because I caught a lady years ago at one of my other sales but it never ceases to amaze me.  I feel like if your that desperate then you can have it.
      All and all the sale was a success.  We ended up making several thousand dollars to put toward our adventures.  We are having one more sale this weekend.  After it is all said and done we will be storing very little and able to hit the road here very shortly. we look forward to running into you on our travels.
